When it comes to confidence, Mia Svensson has more than enough to go around.
“Some people say I'm cocky. I say I'm just awesome,” Svensson said.
“The Scandinavian Sweetheart” began her journey into professional wrestling in early 2008 after attending an independent show with members of her roller derby team. “While watching it, I remember thinking to myself, ‘I could do this. I'm going to do this.’ And so I did.”
Svensson describes herself as a “technical, old-school grappler with a flair for modern arts.” While her technical prowess and her modified spinning powerbomb, dubbed “Thor’s Hammer,” make her dangerous enough, she is quick to point out she’ll pull out all the stops to pick up a victory. “I'm a Swedish athlete that will do what it takes to win,” she said.
Beginning her training in February 2008 with “Nite Stic” Eddie Brown, she made her debut for Ring Wars Carolina against Andrea the Giant three months later. While still training with Brown, she added an additional trainer in the fall of 2009 in fellow Magnificent Ladies Wrestling wrestler Allison Danger, who would also become one of her toughest opponents.
“I love to face anyone who will challenge me to the best of my abilities,” she said. “Among those I've faced, Allison Danger, Kellie Skater and Sassy Stephie have been some of my favorites.”
A cage match victory over Danger for the Ring Wars Carolina/Fabulous Ladies of Wrestling title serves as her greatest accomplishment to date. “It was a big win. Not only did I win the title, but it was the first time that I defeated my mentor.”
While that career milestone sits at the top of Svensson’s list of accomplishments at the moment, she’s still eager to learn and promises to deliver for Magnificent Ladies Wrestling fans while making a name for herself in the top women’s professional wrestling promotion in the world.
“Magnificent Ladies Wrestling seems like a great promotion to learn and grow,” she said. “I plan on entertaining the fans with athleticism and my awesomeness.”
