Few ring wars are fiercer than those fought south of the border, where Mexican luchadoras clash in punishing bouts that often take them to the very edge of exhaustion as passionate fans at ringside scream their support. Blood and broken bones are common and the matches are not for the squeamish.
From this world of blood, sweat and toil comes Pink, a competitor who blends the fast-paced, acrobatic Mexican lucha style with an array of mat-based moves that make her doubly difficult to defeat. Now living in San Antonio, Texas, Pink is proud of her heritage and eager to display her skills in the Magnificent Ladies Wrestling ring.
"If I had to use one word to describe me and my style, it would be power," Pink says. "I am strong, well-trained and driven to succeed as a 'ruda' 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
In Mexican wrestling, a 'ruda' is one of the bad girls and Pink certainly lives up to the description. She is a single-minded in her pursuit of a pinfall and will use any and all of her considerable tricks to secure a win.
"In Mexico, it is fight hard or be destroyed by your opponent," she explains with a laugh. "Most of the women wrestling in America would not last one minute in a Mexican ring. They are too fragile, too worried about breaking a nail or getting a bruise on their pretty little faces. I was forged in those rings and I bring that kind of style into every match I wrestle."
Inspired by the careers of Fabulous Moolah and Chyna –tough women who took no guff from anyone-- Pink sought the toughest trainer she could find. She settled on one of the most famous of the Latino wrestlers, Manny "Raging Bull" Fernandez, at theTexas Wrestling Academy near San Antonio. She made her debut in 2007 against Becky Bayless and never looked back.
Pink quickly found herself in Monterrey, Mexico, where all-women wrestling cards are presented frequently. She soon distinguished herself as a two-fisted brawler, but also a wrestler with an intricate knowledge of punishing holds and maneuvers. It was in Monterrey that Pink began a feud with Hija de Karonte, a long-running battle that in one match saw both women brawling in the streets outside the arena, hurling each other into lampposts, storefronts and pickup trucks.
"She always takes me to the limit," Pink says, adding, "I am proud of my work in Mexico. I love wrestling in Mexico. It is the way I like to fight."
Pink's violent background and vast knowledge of wrestling holds makes her a formidable contender for the Magnificent Ladies Wrestling belt, especially since she already has held titles in NWA-Southwest and WOW.
"My bloodline links me to Spanish royalty as well as to Mexico," she says. "The gold of a championship belt would make me a queen."
